JoJo's Bizarre Adventures Parts Review without Spoilers

JoJo's Bizarre Adventures is one of the most popular and influential anime/manga of all time. This was Hirohiko Arakis's magnum opus which he started from 1986 and is still going hard till date. The borderline plot of his entire Franchise revolves around the Joestar Bloodline and how it's their destiny to fend of lurking evil. There are 8 parts in total of the manga (Japanese hand drawn comics) of which the first 6 received anime adaptation from David Productions studio. Its Shounen demographic action, adventure, supernatural work of fiction. The character designs, art, inking, story is extremely unique and bizarre.

Hirohiko Araki

Araki's unique storytelling and bizarre characters will leave you with tons of unanswered questions. For example, there are tons of Characters named after famous bands and songs like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bohemian Rapsody, Killer Queen and more for no reason at all. It's their name and was always like that. Later on a Q&A session, years later it was revealed that he was heavily influenced by western band culture and that's why he named his characters off them.

The power system here is consists of three techniques. Hamon, Stand and Spin. Hamon is the life force of humans, Stand is the Physical Appearance of will and Spin is the spiral energy circulating the environment. All of these power systems are executed beautifully throughout the entire franchise.

                             (Hamon)                                      (Stand)                                   (Spin)

Araki's beautiful drawings and character designs influenced modern day fashion aesthetics a lot. He had collab International Fashion giant Gucci. He also had his art exhibited in the Louvre Museum which was a first for any manga to be exhibited there.

(JoJo X Gucci Collab)                     (JoJo's Bizarre Adventures
                                                                              exhibition in Louvre Paris, France)

Now, I will start my take on the franchise. Unfortunately, I still didn't finish part 8 so the review will be on the first 7 parts of the manga ranking best to worst. I will keep it short and simple with zero spoilers. I hope each and everyone reading this will at least give JoJo a try.

[Note: For getting context to its entirety minimum knowledge on anime and internet woke culture is required.]

1) Steel Ball Run: Best JoJo, best antagonist, incredible characters and unique power system and powers. Loved the artwork and probably one of the best pieces of fiction I've ever read. Funny Valentine, Dino Dio, Johnny Joestar, Lucy, Gyro Zeppeli and many more incredible characters with their unique abilities, twists and lore will have you hooked in right away. The development that Johnny Joestar goes through is the best part of the entire story.

10/10

2) Battle Tendency: Two words "Joseph Joestar". The reason I and probably all of you who watched/read JoJo got invested to the show because of this character. Hands down the GOAT in the Joestar Family (excluding Johnny Joestar from part 7). The dialogues, the introduction, the pacing, the villains (insert Pillar Men theme) everything was amazing. It even has a small training arc. The Hamon Breathing Technique that we see from part 1 really goes all out here in part 2. Had some of the most iconic scenes and dialogues of all anime. Characters like Caesar, Lisa Lisa, Tequila Joseph (best girl) will always be close to heart.

9/10

3) Stone Ocean: I was never really a fan of female protagonists. The only female protag that I truly enjoyed watching was Revy from the anime Black Lagoon. But man, after reading part 6 everything from my desktop wallpaper to mobile lock screen was Stone free and Jolyne posing. The only reason why this is lower than battle tendency was because didn't really like the antagonist. He had an incredible ability shame could not implement it properly. Loved the part that Jolyne's stand was not overpowered like her dad's. The side characters had amazing abilities as well. Also has the best stand designs.

9/10

4) Diamond is Unbreakable: Lots of people will argue that why people like part 4. It's bad, has bad artwork, no story etc etc well pipe it down. The slice of life vibes that people get from part 4 is really unique and bizarre that i personally find in the animated parts. Kishibe Rohan, Okuyasu Nijimura's stand, the GOAT Kira Yoshikage and his stand Killer Queen (Personal Favorite) and its design and abilities were super cool. The only part i didnt like was Jotaro's character design and the existence of the character named Koichi.

8.5/10

5) Stardust Crusaders: Has one of the best fights of all anime. Also, most of the people starts watching JoJo after seeing Jotaro confronting Dio scene. Had great cast, Joseph, Milfhunter and soundtracks. The first part was kind of meh, but the battles were pretty cool to watch. Part 2 was pretty good. Dio's minions were pretty strong, and everyone had to fight hard. Enjoyed watching it as i was still kinda new to the world of anime. But now I feel like it's your typical shounen anime (don't bash me).

8/10

6) Phantom Blood: The most hated part in the fanbase. But when u start to complete the franchise, slowly you'll notice that Phantom Blood was pretty decent. The characters had great buildup and purpose behind every actions. Loved Dio from this part and Chad Jonathan.

7.5/10

7) Golden Wind: Has lot of plot holes, overpowered stand abilities which makes no sense and worst ending in the franchise. Didn't like Giorno Giovanna as protagonist. His actions, motive, reasoning felt like he had nothing to back it up. The only thing i truly enjoyed from this part were the supporting characters. Bucciarati still remains as the best Jobro(excluding part 7). Loved Mista and his ability Sex Pistols and the part Trish play throughout the show. Loved the character design of Diavolo and his stand King Crimson was pretty good too.

6/10

That would be all. If you've reached here, I appreciate the time you took to read my review.
